Elm Ridge Methodist Church (twice!)
The house was built for John Pease and his wife Sophia in the 1860s. It was designed by G. Hoskins who also built Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and the Technical College on Northgate.
In the 1930s the empty property was bought by Mr G. M. Harroway, a devout Methodist and given to the people of Darlington. He oversaw the internal alterations, including the removal of the main staircase and much of the first floor to create a place of worship for 250 people.
