Tony Metcalfe

Our first meeting in 2020 was extremely well attended by our members who came to listen to Steve Owers from the Teesdale & Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team.

Steve was a fascinating speaker with many years of experience and his talk was very informative. Something that surprised many of our members was how much of their work is not up on the hills, but urban areas including Darlington, Durham and Bishop Auckland. Their teams, which includes specialist dogs, searches for missing people who are invariably youngsters or adults with dementia or mental health issues.

A fuller account of Steve’s talk will be found in our February newsletter.
